Truck Center Companies has been a crucial part of our consumer fabric for more than four decades. Since 1975, this family-owned company has kept trucks rolling along our roadways. It has become one of America’s largest Freightliner dealers with locations in nine cities across Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas. Headquartered in Omaha, Truck Center Companies has built its success on a foundation of customer-focused service paired with an innovative business model.
Trucking for Today
Since its inception, Truck Center Companies has been at the forefront of providing customer-minded service. It has been Elite Support Certified by Freightliner and Western Star Trucks, which means all of its dealerships elevate the customer experience by providing the following:
- Express assessment – will provide a preliminary diagnosis and communication to the customer within two hours of a repair order creation.
- Parts availability – multiple locations stock $10 million in inventory and can accommodate overnight deliveries.
- Continuous improvement – will continue to learn, share, implement processes and make improvements.
- Certified technicians – staffed with trained, experienced and certified technicians.
- Amenities – will provide clean and comfortable facilities while trucks are being serviced.
This thoughtful way of operating extends to its own employees as well. The company developed its own training center to reduce travel time and expense for its service technicians. It is one of the few dealerships in the country to have an onsite diesel tech training facility. Many customers send their technicians there for advanced training in the latest technology.
In August 2017, Truck Center Companies constructed a new corporate headquarters. This Omaha-based location has 180,000 square feet, combining two dealerships and a body shop, and creating a larger, more advanced 24,000-square-foot training facility. It boasts 60 service bays, a full-service body shop, a six-bay training center and a 34,000-square-foot parts warehouse that uses an automated retrieval system to fetch parts. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to get trucks back on the road in record time. Not only does this help drivers make their scheduled deliveries, but it also gets them back home to their families as soon as possible.
In addition to quick service, customer comfort was a major focus during the creation of this new dealership. When drivers bring their trucks in for a repair, they have access to a three-screen theater, an arcade, laundry facilities, a pet-friendly area and more.
Behind the Wheel
What began as a high school job turned into a life-long career for Trey Mytty. As a teenager, he began working part-time at Truck Center Companies. He returned to the company after graduating from the University of Nebraska and worked his way up from salesman to General Manager to Vice President. Trey took a giant step in January 2008 when, in the face of a recession and other challenging conditions, he purchased Truck Center Companies. As President and CEO, Trey has led his dealer locations to increased market share and revenue growth while maintaining an unwavering commitment to client satisfaction.
With two and a half decades of industry experience, Trey has a true understanding of the trucking business. He joined the Freightliner Dealer Council in 2010 as a Central Region representative. He is currently Vice Chairman and will serve as Chairman for the 2019 – 2020 term.
Driven to Succeed
Truck Center Companies has been recognized on both local and national levels for its excellence in the industry. It was named Truck Dealer of the Year by the American Truck Dealers’ Association. It has also received a number of Freightliner honors, including the ASPIRE Award (Acknowledging Sales, Parts & Service, Image and Relationship Excellence). This honor is given to dealers who demonstrate superior sales satisfaction and customer service while achieving high levels of business performance. Additionally, the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce recognized Truck Center Companies as one of Omaha’s fastest growing companies and gave it the Golden Spike Award, which honors area businesses for their longevity and investment in greater Omaha.
In addition to the company’s dedication to its clients, it has also demonstrated a longstanding commitment to its community. Truck Center Companies is the largest single donor to Make-A-Wish Nebraska, having raised more than $2.6 million over the past 24 years.
