Bob says that his best "out-of-office" days are spent on long road trips with "the guys" on their Harleys. Sounds like a pretty good time.

Now, however, Bob stays busy helping SilverStone Group's construction industry clients manage risk and mitigate exposures. The Harley gets out less than he'd like (although he admits to visiting Sturgis once in awhile).

With a 30-year career in the insurance/risk management field, 16 with Peter Kiewit and Sons, followed by a post-retirement stint as the owner of a private consulting service, Bob has found his niche -- drilling down into a client's daily operations to thoroughly understand how the risks encountered can affect the organization's bottom line. And Bob has the experience and expertise to know how best to modify an organization's risk management and insurance program to lessen risk for construction clients.

No matter what the situation, Bob is ready and willing to help, bringing expert analytical strategies to find solutions that really work.

John may have grown up on a ranch in central South Dakota, but he's no stranger to the business world. Since graduating from Augustana College, John has spent more than 20 years in risk management and the commercial insurance industry. John was responsible for establishing SilverStone Group’s Sioux Falls office and serves as Regional Director for SilverStone Group operations in North and South Dakota.

John also leads the South Dakota risk management team. Their unique practice partners with midsize companies to take a proactive risk management approach. They recognize that placing and servicing insurance policies offers only a limited value to most larger businesses. By employing a comprehensive analysis of both insurable and uninsurable risks, the team is able to develop and implement customized, risk reduction systems and alternative risk transfer strategies to minimize the purchase of insurance and lower the total cost of risk.

John is active in the community and currently serves on the board of directors for LifeScape Foundation and the Construction Financial Management Association – Siouxland Chapter.

John Marshall

Principal

John has lived and breathed healthcare from a very young age. Growing up in a family who works in the industry, he knows the challenges and rewards first-hand.

John’s first job out of college was with SilverStone Group and, while it might have been accidental that he found our industry so soon in his career, the reasons John remains in insurance are easy to understand. His family history includes generations committed to serving and advising others and understanding the needs of the customer. John’s entrepreneurial spirit drives him to find better, easier ways to assist clients in the ever-changing world of risk.

John is head of the Professional Risk Services practice area for SilverStone Group. With over 19 years of experience, John has developed an expertise in professional liability insurance and risk management, working with industries with significant professional, regulatory, reputational and cyber-related exposures. John has developed a proprietary strategic risk planning process that is adaptable for companies who have different risk management needs, from reducing coverage over time with more active management of their exposure to organizations who want to self-insure or manage primary exposures. SilverStone Group benchmarks and categorizes data analytics from each risk assessment performed to help existing and future clients learn from the uninsured mistakes of others.

John is a frequent contributor to trade journals and serves as a public speaker for several professional associations each year. He has received various professional certifications related to advising on and financing risk. John was honored as one of the top 40 under 40 professionals in 2005 by the Midlands Business Journal, an Omaha publication.

John’s family also upholds a tradition of volunteering, which he maintains by actively involving himself in the community. Over the years, John and his wife have served on the board of directors of 11 non-profit organizations in addition to supporting organizations such as the Knights of AKSARBEN Foundation and Jesuit Academy. In his personal time, John enjoys hiking, gardening and spending time with his two young children. He hopes to guide his children to continue on the same path.

Jill has a history with SilverStone Group that spans 25 years. The reason this has been such a lasting relationship? In her words, “SilverStone Group has a great culture. The people are fun, smart, kind and really care about each other.”

The camaraderie Jill experiences within the office she takes and extends to her customers as part of her commitment to client satisfaction. She loves talking to and visiting her clients. Having this type of relationship enables her to really understand their businesses and their exposures.

Jill has been devoted to the Construction Risk Services team since 2003 and has moved back into a variety of large non-construction related accounts in recent years. Her vast knowledge of the industry and her resourcefulness helps her identify solutions for her client’s evolving coverage needs. In addition, she is also currently working towards an Associate in Risk Management designation (ARM).

Jill volunteers at Nebraska Wildlife Rehab, caring for orphaned Fox Squirrels and is a member of both the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council and National Wildlife Rehabilitators Association. Besides her knowledge, enthusiasm and passion, one of Amy DeJong’s best qualities is her level of patience. For example, she’s been on the season ticket waiting list for the Green Bay Packers since 1992, and she’s currently in line behind 10,500 other fans who also want to enjoy a season in Lambeau Field. Her patience for Packer tickets is similar to her patience in explaining risk management and risk transfer to her clients – she’ll take as long as needed in order for her clients to fully understand their plan.

With more than 20 years of experience in risk management, including past employment with two Fortune 500 companies, Amy brings expertise and a developed understanding of the various issues faced by clients. She mitigates and manages client risk through traditional insurance programs, captive alternatives, risk control, claims management, behavior-based safety programs, loss control initiatives and contractual risk transfer.

Amy is a risk management advocate and believes policies should be bought only after steps are taken to reduce the risk. She feels insurance procurement should be the result of a year’s worth of work on controlling, mitigating and managing known and unknown business risks. This investigation should then direct the risk transfer product selection. Amy’s strategy, energy, creativity and passion to help her clients make her a valuable asset to her customers.

During her years on the client side, she worked through several mergers and acquisitions, divestitures and bankruptcies and associated litigation. Amy utilizes this knowledge base to ensure that client risks are identified and protected. She strives to develop client partnerships based on trust, confidence, courtesy and top-flight client service. Amy considers SilverStone Group to be her clients’ one-stop, one-shop, one-phone-call partner.

Amy is an active volunteer at the Dougherty Hospice House comforting those in their final hours. She and her husband Jeff reside in Brandon, SD, with their three boys.
