While reviewing practices at the job site of a construction industry client, SilverStone Group’s Safety Engineer identified several critical issues. The most serious violation was the failure of employees to follow protection requirements outlined in the OSHA fall protection standard. Because worksite falls often result in severe and costly injuries, it was imperative for this client to take immediate action.
Several meetings were held with the construction supervisory staff and crews to explain the deficiencies. SilverStone Group worked with the client’s Safety Director to identify and purchase the appropriate equipment and provide training materials to enhance employee awareness and compliance.
Approximately one week after the problem was first noted, OSHA visited the worksite. Due to the timely response of our Safety Engineer and the dedication of the client’s Safety Director, the crew and operation were in compliance and the inspection was very positive, resulting in no penalties or citations.
