Our history begins with our passion for aviation.
Like many, our earliest memories of flight began with brief moments in time shared with fathers and grandfathers. Passion is born with the first experience of flight or with hearing a war hero’s story. This passion for aviation, this love for flight, stays with us, becoming part of our being; it guides us down life’s path. It is a passion that forges life-long friendships. It feeds the need for freedom, adventure and perspective. Read about Charles Parmley’s passion here.
SilverStone Group’s Aviation Risk Services division was established more than 25 years ago. In 1982, our first aviation client was Lincoln, Nebraska-based Duncan Aviation. This newly created organization sold and serviced Learjet and Citation aircraft and provided airframe and engine maintenance as well as avionics installations. Over the years, Duncan has grown to become the premier aircraft maintenance, modification and completions center in the country. Their expanded operations now offer full-service facilities in Lincoln and Battle Creek, Michigan, along with twenty avionics satellite facilities throughout the U.S. that offer a wide array of complex services.
Throughout the past quarter century, as Duncan’s business evolved and their needs and exposures changed, SilverStone Group’s close relationship with this client allowed us to grow with them. We worked closely with insurance companies, helped the carriers understand Duncan’s complex needs and, ultimately, provided this client with coverages that enabled this organization to move into the future with confidence.
Our services also expanded greatly over the past quarter century, to include coverage for corporate aviation. Beginning with Mutual of Omaha’s corporate flight operations, our customer list has grown over the years to include some of the country’s top-ranked flight organizations.
And we haven’t stopped there. We continue to expand our quality services over the entire spectrum of aviation, including charter operations — from one-aircraft departments to major charter and management companies that operate in excess of 15 aircraft, to manufacturers and parts vendors, airports and private aircraft — including war birds, helicopters, VLJs and experimentals.
We recently expanded our customized service offerings to include safety management system (SMS) implementation for our customers. This service is further enhanced, as SilverStone Group has gained accreditation from the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) to provide auditing and implementation services for the International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO). We are proud to be the first aviation insurance provider in the country to receive this accreditation and offer these specialized services.
