Growing up in a family of nine children, Glen learned early about the importance of sharing, acting responsibly and living within a budget. As a retirement plan consultant, Glen draws on his background to guide him as he responds to his clients’ needs. A successfully managed pension plan can help individuals achieve a secure retirement — and Glen and his team do their best to make that scenario a reality for their clients.

Glen has more than 25 years of pension plan actuarial experience. He works with employers within several industries, including healthcare, insurance, financial, not-for-profit and governmental. He is highly knowledgeable in the areas of performing and communicating actuarial valuations for funding and accounting purposes, retirement plan designs and implications of new and proposed legislative changes. He performs complex transactions, including plan mergers, acquisitions, plan designs, regulatory compliance and their funding and accounting impact. He believes this responsibility has given him the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally, as he faces the challenge of providing viable solutions in a changing marketplace.

He advises clients regarding their unique situations and solves challenging issues for both large and small employers. Glen and his team offer actuarial and consulting services for employer pension plans and defined contribution plans. Every interaction is planned with one goal in mind — to serve the clients to the best of their ability.

Glen has authored numerous articles for SilverLink magazine. He is a member of community and professional associations including the Society of Actuaries, American Academy of Actuaries and Dundee Presbyterian Church. He volunteers his time serving as a youth coach, at Open Door Mission and the Nebraska Children’s Home. Glen is a devoted family man who appreciates the security and loyalty one finds within the family unit. He and his wife provide transitional foster care to newborns as they proceed through the adoption process.

Mike loves the outdoors, but you’d never guess that from his choice of career — as an actuary. He’s a 21-year veteran of pension, actuarial and consulting services, including 19 years in post-retirement medical, dental and life insurance actuarial valuations and consulting. His extensive experience provides for the design, implementation, evaluation and ongoing administration of pension and retiree welfare programs. Mike enjoys the challenge of creating solutions for complex financial problems. He realizes that while clients expect his department to provide viable answers, they are often surprised to find that Mike and his team take the time to really listen before making recommendations.

Mike is the author of several articles for our SilverLink magazine and is involved in numerous professional associations, including the American Academy of Actuaries. He is an Enrolled Actuary by the Joint Board for Enrollment of Actuaries, an Associate for the Society of Actuaries and a member of the Nebraska Actuaries Club. Considering his career choice, it’s not surprising that Michael has always excelled when it comes to mathematics. In college, he used his math skills to write a computer program to simulate a baseball game, a project that won him the Phi Kappa Phi Scholar of the Year Award.

Michael has over seven years of actuarial experience helping clients find solutions that fit their individual and organizational needs. He performs post-retirement medical valuations to satisfy ASC 715-60, GASB 45 and NAIC reporting requirements.  He has also been involved in working with Actuarial Equivalency attestations for Medicare Part D.  He has been assisting clients with Early Retiree Reinsurance Programs established under PPACA.

Michael has worked as a pricing actuary in several sectors, including individual health, Medicare supplement, disability, critical illness and Long-Term Care. He has been involved at all levels of actuarial work, from pricing new market expansion and new plan offerings to existing markets, annual rate filings, producer compensation design and primary support.

Michael is the author of several articles for our SilverLink magazine and is also an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a member of the Nebraska Actuaries Club. He is also a member of the Maple Street YMCA Advisory Board and has served on the Parish Council and Stewardship committee of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.

With four little girls, Michael spends most of his free time at home with his family. Whether he is giving “dragon rides” or pretending to be a puppy—since he has thus far resisted giving in and buying one—Michael can always expect an abundance of hugs when he walks in the door at night.

What does Renee love most about living in Nebraska? The 15-mile view out of her front window! She also enjoys taking full advantage of Nebraska’s climate changes throughout the year as an avid water skier and snowmobiling enthusiast. When Renee isn’t busy immersing herself in the great outdoors, she is hard at work advising clients on retirement benefit plans, including both qualified pension plans and nonqualified retirement plans. She completes actuarial valuations, provides financial disclosures and models the cost impact and implications of plan design alternatives. She advises plans regarding contribution strategies with the plan’s specific funding objectives in mind. Renee is a registered representative (Series 7) and is licensed in life and health insurance and annuities.

These qualifications, along with her actuarial credentials and experience, make Renee exclusively skilled to manage pension plan terminations and partial pension carve-outs from start to finish. Her actuarial expertise provides a clear and precise understanding of the pension plan benefits required to be paid. As a registered representative, she accurately analyzes the general assets of an insurance company to determine the safest available annuity, and her insurance license assures plan sponsors receive the most appropriate annuity at the best available price.

Renee is involved in several professional associations, including the Society of Actuaries, the American Academy of Actuaries and the Nebraska Actuaries Club. She is also a member of a group that promotes continuing education for women. This group provides encouragement and financial support to women seeking to advance their education. In addition, Renee serves as treasurer for another organization that provides support to students attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Renee has also published several articles in the SilverLink magazine during her 15 years with SilverStone Group.

Linda isn’t one to toot her own horn, but while attending the University of Nebraska, she was a trumpeter in the marching band. Being part of a band takes a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication, all of which she learned at a young age growing up as a farm girl near Pilger, Nebraska. Though her marching and farming days are over, she now dedicates her spare time to attending her boys’ sporting events, which include football, baseball, basketball, track and wrestling.

Linda has 27 years of administrative experience with qualified pension plans, 23 of which are with SilverStone Group. Having worked with Simplified Employee Pension Plans (SEP), 401(k), money purchase and defined benefit pension plans, Linda specializes in administering large defined benefit plans. She is responsible for the accuracy of valuation data, benefit determinations, asset reconciliations, government filings and review of Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDRO). Clients depend on Linda’s years of experience for accurate and timely answers to questions and resolution of problems.

SilverStone Group is lucky to have a “first chair” employee like Linda!

SilverStone Group is not just a place of work for Beth, it’s her second home. After 27 years with the company, her fellow Associates have become like family.

Beth currently serves as the Executive Assistant for the Defined / Post-Retirement Benefits division but she has held various positions, including Assistant Plan Administrator, Administrative Assistant and 401(k) Plan Record Keeper.

Along with the wide variety of duties that keep her moving throughout the day, Beth’s focus is on assisting in the GASB area with marketing, maintaining prospect and client lists and drafting and assembling proposals. Beth also handles plan administrator duties as a backup and fills in wherever she is needed.

Beth is active in her community and has enjoyed her mission trips to Northern Canada. For six straight summers, she took a 17-hour car ride along with an hour-and-a-half turbo prop plane ride to the Oji-Cree Indian reservation in Ontario, where she taught Vacation Bible School to Indian children. Working with the children on the reservation has given Beth experience to handle her son, who was adopted in May of 2008. Beth says that both her son and the Indian children are very active, but she says they all offer an incredible opportunity for growth and learning potential. In a few years, Beth would love to return to Northern Canada and take her son to show him quite the unique experience!
