Corporate Challenge
In 2011 and 2012, SilverStone Group Associates were called to participate in the Corporate Challenge – a 6 week kettlebell workout program that required compliance with a healthy diet while receiving Russian Kettlebell Certified (RKC) training through SG Human Performance (an Omaha-based kettlebell training facility). SilverStone Group participants stepped up to this unique challenge presented by WAG. Spouses and significant others were also invited to participate. Teams were formed to compete to gain the highest cumulative score. Points were earned based on individual performance. Each participant set personal goals that could be realistically met during the 6-week program, such as body-fat reduction, strength training improvement or reaching a desired weight. Thorough measurements were taken every two weeks and participants were required to log their food intake and exercise schedule. The winning team would have the opportunity to select a charity to receive a donation in their name, enjoy a catered celebratory lunch and, most importantly, gain challenge-winning bragging rights – a priceless opportunity at SilverStone Group! Winning charities were Child Saving Institute (Spring 2011), Cystic Fibrosis (Summer 2011) and Children’s Respite Care Center (Spring 2012).

Walking works -  in a lot of ways.
A brisk-paced walk can help you and your family look and feel better, increase energy, and pick up your spirits. Walking can work to improve your health, too. A regular routine of brisk-paced walking daily can help you lose weight, lower cholesterol, strengthen your heart, and reduce the likelihood of serious health problems down the road.

While any increase in walking will help promote good health, the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports recommends 30 minutes a day, on five or more days a week, or 10,000 steps daily, to produce the best, long-term health benefits for most individuals. That is why Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans launched WalkingWorks, the Blue Program for a Healthier America and SilverStone Group was one of the lucky 30 companies that formed a team. With 70 Associates and spouses / significant others participating, SilverStone Group logged over 8,600 miles!

Farmers Market adds to Employee Perks

During the month of August in 2011, SilverStone Group Associates were given the opportunity to visit a weekly farmer’s market that offered fresh, local produce to the Miracle Hills business area. The market was set up through Partners for a Healthy City, an Omaha-based health initiative that provided a grant which allowed employees of participating businesses to pay $5 for coupons that could be redeemed for $6 worth of produce.
