Joe counsels owners of businesses of all sizes and advises on strategies relating to business continuity, exit planning and wealth transfer. In particular, Joe provides guidance to business owners on the use of insurance to fund various obligations including: the purchase of ownership interests; repayment of debt; recruitment and retention of key executives; overhead coverage and lost profits. Joe also provides personal financial planning guidance to business owners, executives and professionals.
Prior to joining SilverStone Group, Joe served six years as an attorney with the law firm of Koley Jessen P.C. in Omaha, Nebraska where he practiced law in the areas of Corporate/General Counsel, Mergers & Acquisitions, Tax Planning and Securities. While an attorney, Joe advised clients on a wide range of business matters including the structuring of buy/sell agreements and related business succession planning issues. Joe also authored articles that were published in the Nebraska Law Review, as well as the Nebraska Lawyer Magazine. Joe’s experience as a lawyer in structuring transactions and planning for individuals and corporations allows him to see many alternatives for each situation. Joe also worked as a financial analyst for the McCarthy Group in Omaha prior to attending law school.
Joe is a member of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, the Nebraska State Bar Association and the Omaha Bar Association. Joe is also very active in the Omaha community, currently serving on the Board of Directors of Partnership 4 Kids, an organization which helps disadvantaged students from kindergarten to careers, through goal setting, mentoring, and college access programs. Joe is also an active member of the Omaha Venture Group as well as the Omaha Creighton Prep Alumni Board of Trustees. Joe and his wife Kim have two young daughters.
